Spirit stood by,at a fair distance,able to see his mate through the other mares gathered round,but not able to see what was happening around her hindquarters.At Thunder and Angel's birth,he'd been allowed to watch.But when he'd tried,mares had shoved him aside like a naughty colt.His mother and Angel included.This worried him.Angel was obviously her mother's support system,for she squealed once or twice.

Meanwhile,Rain was moaning and groaning,while squealing.Her stomach was larger than normal.Thunder was beside his dad,for no one would let him near either.It was a while before everyone stopped hearing squeals.Tunder gasped as a mare fainted for some reason.He tried cutting through but a mare pushed him back.After a while,Rain was done.Somthing must of went wrong,for there was too many.

Spirit was nervous now.The mares were scolding and saying things like,"How could he have done this to her?' 'They should be done away with.'Spirit then pushed his way through them.Alongside Rain,there were not one,or two foals,but six.Spirit looked at them.He couldn't believe it.Angel shook as she gazed at them.Even Spirit's mother said nothing.Only one thought was on Spirit's mind.Either he had some pretty strong stuff locked up,or he had something wrong with him.Mares stared at him with dark,angry eyes.All around him were frowns and scowls.He took one last look at the foals before turning and running away.

Rain,tired and sweaty,Looked at the mares.Sje was weak,but managed to talk."It,Isn't his,Fault....The Wolves got,to him...."She turned away and started to cry

"Mom."Angel said.She glared at the mares."Away with all of you!Haven't you stared at her enough.All except,you four."She nodded to a few mares.They looked puzzled."They'll need to be fed1And there's no way on Earth she can feed them all."The mares stood quietly.Angel then turned to her mom."You need to feed them first remember,then I'll help you move them onto these four."Angel wanted to ask he mother what she meant by wolves,but decided not in front of these mares.They'd only spread rumors.

Rain nodded,slowly standing up.She knew Angel wanted to know about the wolf thing,but now wasen't the time.Some of the foals stood up too,Except one little filly.Rain nudged her,supporting her.(The filly's keesha)After a while,the filly stood up.Rain had sent the other foals off to nurse from the other mares,But the filly that wouldn't stand up,Rain nursed her

"She's the baby girl."Angel said."She looked over at the others,now nursing."And he's the youngest colt I think."She said,pointing out one(Ashton).One colt looked like Rain,only slightly different markings."Mom,can I name him?"She asked.

"That's sweet."She thought.I a couple months,she might've thought differently.She thought for a moment before saying,"The oldest,He's Hidalgo.After the warrior hero dad told me about.Speaking of Dad,do you want me to go find him?"

"Sure honey,Tell him to ingore the mares."Rain whickered.The mares were just suprised that she had 6 foals.Looking at all the foals finish nurse.She told them to stay close while she grazed.

Hidalgo whinnied loudly and ran circles around the others,rounding them together.Angel laughed as she went off to find her father."Daddy,"She whispered,finding him sitting along,coated in mud from a fall he'd taken running through the woods."Are you Ok?The mares are being stupid.It's not your fault."Spirit looked at her."Angel sweetie,Help your mom.I'll be ok."He said,his eyes falling.He wasn't the proud stallion he'd been that morning.Anger boiled in Angel,she slammed into him."Get up now!Come and see your newset family.Don't be so stupid!"She said.Spirit obeyed her,though he didn't want to and followed her back to Rain.

Spirit looked at her,ears laid back."How can we care for all of them?How can I lead a herd who is ashamed of me?"He whispered to her.The last question hung back befroe he said it,"How can I lose half of them to exile day?"

Spirit noticed that she hadn't answered his last question.before it was just the question of losing Thunder,but now,four?He wouldn't be able to bear it.What Rain had said made him feel a bit better.HE looked at them well for the first time,and then asked what are their names?"Angel told him that the oldest was called Hidalgo.
