Spirit stood alone as he had for a long time now.An outcast from his own family.He had not made a sound in so long, he feared he may have actually lost his voice from lack of use.But more than his herd, his mother, his children even, he missed Rain.Her beautiful laugh, her adoring smile, and even just feeling her near him at night.He missed watching her sleep beneath the four foals that crowded her and feeling the other three shift as they slept against him.He missed being woken in the morning by the seven of them, he even missed arguing with them over discipline.Now, he was alone with nothing at all.All he wanted was just to die.

Getting away from the loud mouths in the herd,Rain snorted and walked through the canyons. She remembered when she fiirst came her,both her and spirit,with no worries,running as fast as they could,towards his homeland.No.Their homeland.Spirit hadn't been seen since Rain had been on the canyon beggining,staring down at him.She made a mistake.So did he.Thunder was gone,Spirit was gone,and Hidalgo was gone to the Hai herd. The family was splitting.Sniffing as she heard hooves hitting the dusty ground,she quickly shot her glance everywhere,ears pinned."Who's there?" She snorted.

Spirit's ears pricked as he thought he heard her voice.Dear God,it couldn't be, was she here now?No, she couldn't be.He was imagining her.Furious that he was losing all control, feeling like an angry child, he gained more speed, thundering along the canyon's ridges.But then, he saw a flash of white.Lowering his hindquarters to skid to a stop, Spirit gazed down the cliff.She WAS here.He tried to whinny out to her, but no sound came from his mouth.He had to get her attention before she got frightened and ran away.He glanced around.He then remembered something he'd done as a colt, sliding down the hills.He'd never done such a thing down a cliff however.Oh well, he would try.Spirit walked to the edge of the cliffs and began to slid down.

Her pinto body turned quickly toward the canyon wall,as Raib gasped.it..couldn't be...Spirit?Seeing him attempt to go down the canyon,she neighed."Be careful!That's dangerous!" Snorting as she ran towards him,her eyes shown wldly.Was it really Spirit?Or was it a horse pretending to be him?

"Don't worry sweet heart, I'm being careful!"Spirit cried, finding his voice, yet it sounded different somehow.When he reached the bottom, any horse could easily see he looked very different.His eyes had a constantly wild look to them, his body was scratched and splashed with mud and his mane was thick with more tangles than usual."Rain....?Is that truly you?"He asked, taking a step forward, trying not to scare her.

Looking at the mud covered stallion in front of her,there was a wild,scary look in his eyes. But she knew,it was him...It had to be."Sp...irit...?I..I'm so..sorry." She knew it was her fault hat he had all these painful memories,all these scratches from battles or falls. "It's my fault,it's all my..." Lowering her head,her blue eyes lost her old sparkle."I'm..sorry.I did..this..to you."She snorted at herself."What have I become!?I'll never forgive myself."Her head still hung low,she opened her eyes and began looking up at him.

"Shhh.Shhh.Rainey.It's okay.It's not your fault I did what I did.I'm a monster, and feel for nothing anymore.Do not blame yourself for that.You a wonderful mother and mate, but I don't deserve you."
