In the deep valley, beyond some woods, the sound of a filly's squeal could be heard for quite a distance. There in the field was a young beautiful black Thoroughbred filly struggling to get away from a stallion. "Get away from me," she squealed as the stallion came closer.
The stallion was a buckskin color, his name was Cham. He was of the Hai Herd. A herd that only stallions were in. Out casted stallions. They jumped at a change to go after a mare or a filly. "Come on," Cham said. "I don't want to hurt you. I just want to get to know you." He followed her around.
"Not a chance," the filly said as she kicked out at him. "Get away from me, Cham. I know your herd and your kind."
"Come on, Eight Belles," he said. He started after her again.
Eight Belles kicked at him hard. "I said no, and I mean no!" She kicked and kicked at him again.
Cham snorted. He was getting tired of this games, as he liked to think of them as. "Just come with me," he said.
Eight Belles knew better than that. She has had friends that have had a run in with Cham or another stallion of the Hai Herd. All of them force breed. Eight Belles wasn't going to let that happen to her. She was a strong, fast, and smart filly. "I warned you," Eight Belles said.
"Come on, Belles," Cham said. "I really won't hurt you." Cham said as he trotted up to her again.
"Not a chance," she said as she kicked out at him.
Cham dodged the kick, "Whoa, whoa! Take it easy."
"I will not take it easy until you are gone," she said she kicked out at him again. He came closer to her. Eight Belles squealed and kicked at him and took off at a full gallop.
"Now, we're getting some where," he said as he smiled and charged after her.
They're hooves thundered over the valley. The whinnies of the two could be heard loudly. Eight Belles hated calling for help, but there was no losing Cham this time. She kept on galloping and headed for the woods. Cham followed her. Eight Belles dodged trees and ducked under low branches to try and lose Cham, but Cham just kept on taking the challenges. Eight Belles came galloping out of the woods and into a valley. Cham was just coming out of the wooded area.
