"It's not his fault," Eight Belles jumped in trying to stand in Temon and Angel's defense. She wasn't sure exactly what to expect from Spirit. A strong wild mustang stallion like him could do some damage to her if she wasn't careful. She wasn't sure if he would be furious at her or not.

"Please,Sister of the track,leave me and my father will deal this out on our own."Spirit did not want to be mean to her,for he had heard basically this was Angel's idea.Spirit then turned back to Temon."I wonder what the herd's judgement will be.....they may overule me,but if so,STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER."The last words hung in his the air as Spirit went to follow Angel home.

"I'm so sorry," Eight Belles said to Temon. She felt it was her fault that Angel and Temon's secret had been discovered.
"It wasn't your fault, so don't worry about. What happens, happens. He was liable to find out sooner or later," Temon said as he watched Angel and Spirit walk off. "She would have been a fine racer," he whispered the words so quiet that almost no one could hear them.
Eight Belles heard what he had said and nodded her head.

When Spirit and Angel arrived at where Rain was,Spirit went and stood beside her."What exactly was going on young mare?"He demanded.Angel sighed."Temon's been teaching me to race."

Temon headed toward the herd. Eight Belles looked at him. "Why are you heading back?! You're just headed for trouble," Eight Belles said.
"If it has to be that way. So be it," Temon said. "I can not run from my problems." He walked on. Eight Belles followed him into the valley.
