They asked the groom what had happend,and when he said he'd disciplined Sage,she scoffed,"Discipline?I told that fool of a dog to leave my friends alone!"The Colonel came walking in and,though Sage was not usually mistreated by him,her ears went back.The men explained what had happened again,and then he simply said,"Flame seems to be a bad influence to even our best horses.Remove her from his side and put her in the confined stall until she remembers her masters."Sage's angry black face was placed in a halter and though she knew it was hopeless,she resisted."Let go you hairless monkeys!You peabrained fools!"She shouted insults as she was dragged down the alleyway."Utah,Don't leave me!"She shouted as she was pushed in a solitarily confined stall.It was small,dark and smelled musty."You can't do this to me!"She shouted.

Utah became enraged. He began snorting and whinnying angrily. He started to half rear in his stall and started kicking at the door of the stall. In between that, he would pace the stall line. "Sage," he called out.

Sage,in her blind rage,snapped her teeth,bringing them down on a hand,drawing blood.The door was shut as Sage let out a triumphant cry,which died in her throat as a whip flashed across her face,ripping up from her jaw to her ear,narrowly missing her eye."No food or water for the week for her."The Colonel said.The men then left,leaving Sage to bleed from her face.Flies were already buzzing around the cut.

Utah kicked at his door angrily. Every time a human crossed his path he would try to bite them.

Sage had slumped against the wall of the stall and slid the ground.Infection from the flies' greedy mouths was begining to set in.And with no one to care for her for the whole week,who knew what could happen."U-ah."Her words were slurred as she called his name."So irsty."She whispered,her voice cracked and slow.

When you saw a groom and the Colonel coming by, he bared his teeth and whinnied in anger. He keep kicked at the door with his front hooves. Some of the other horses were getting a little irritated by all the fuss going on. Utah pinned his ears back and continued to carry on.

Sage had long since become quiet.All that was heard from her confined stall was her labored breathed,which caught in her lungs.Her body was slowing down.She let out a weak nicker of help,but no one came."U-ah."She whispered the name again.

Utah kept hitting the door. The door was beginning to come loss. He continued hoping that the door would brake soon so he could get to Sage. He whinnied to her.

Night drew in,and sage was scared she wouldn't make it.But with thirst and hunger and the infection to fight,she was losing.She couldn't even call to Utah any more.Sage now knew if she made it through,wha her song of heart would be.she thought of the words as she listened to Utah smashing at his door.

Utah was going crazy with rage. He kept kicking at the door. And finally after all that time the door gave way and Utah was freed from his stall. A few grooms were surprised that the door went flying and the stallion leaped out of the stall. Utah ran through the stable trying to find Sage. He's hooves clattering against the floor as he ran through the stable. The grooms started to come at him. Trying to chase him back to a stall. Utah kept avoiding them. He whinnied and half reared every time a human got in his way. One human jumped out in front of him, waving their arms. Utah skid to a stop and turned around and cantered down an other aisle way. Some of the other horses started to whinny. Utah thundered down the aisle knocking anything that was in his way over. The sound of things being broken and tossed could be heard.

Sage,though she was so terribly weak,managed to half rise,so she could see through the stall door's bars."U-ah!"She shouted before falling back.

Utah heard the faint whisper. He turned quickly. He heard the voice of the Colonel. As Utah turned the corner he knocked the Colonel over. Utah didn't stop. He then finally found the stall. He looked over the door. He started to kick at it.

People were streaming in from all directions."Rope him,get him tied down!"The Colonel was shouting orders.The men obeyed and began to toss ropes at Utah.
