The soldiers jumped back a bit then saw that he was still asleep. They went for the brand and pushed the hot metal against the horse's neck.
"Colonel, I will not have a fine stallion like that put down in this fort," the General said. "We can breed him to our calmest mares to get the anger out of the future foals." The General saw the chestnut acting up. Utah was headed right for him. Before Utah could stop he knocked the General over. Some of the horses in the stable gasped in horror as the general fell to the ground. Soldier came running to him.

The Colonel didn't want to think about breeding Spirit,but he knew that he wasn't to disobey."Yes Sir.I will have our vet examine him and I can have him ready for breeding,if he is suitable,tonight."As the chestnut stallion knocked the General over,The Colonel helped him back up.The Colonel quickly grabbed a rope hanging over a horse post and roped Utah around the neck.

Thunder awoke,but the men just took the branding metal off.Thunder jumped up and squealed.But he paused.He couldn't move his neck,He was in so much pain.Squealing,he began to cry,hoping his dad would see what happened.

Utah squealed in surprise. He jumped sideways away from the Colonel. The General was now on his feet. He dusted himself off. Some other soldier tried to help.

Spirit had become concious again.He stood just in time to see his boy screaming from the branding iron.Utah was running all over."ENOUGH!"Spirit screamed.Everything froze.Spirit hadn't meant for that to happen."He then tried to break out of his stall again,but it had been reinforced.

All the horses looked toward Spirit. Utah stopped and looked over. The soldier were puzzled why the horses had stopped.

Spirit continued to smash his head against the boards.He noticed the horses were all staring."Well go on then!Break out!Jailbreak!Whatever.RUN AWAY!"He shouted,sounding very much like leader Jack Sparrow.(lol)

The horses looked around. They saw that there were many soldiers around and the door to the fort was shut tight. The calvary horses looked away, they did not want to be shot at by the soldiers. They all turned away, knowing there was no way out. Utah looked at Spirit. He whinnied, "What about Cham?"

"I'm kind of busy as well," Utah said.
"They took him to the shed," a mare said. It was a light chestnut mare with a blaze and was a thoroughbred.

Utah began to pull. The ropes around he's legs were coming undone. The Colonel still had the rope. Utah began to take steps back.

"Come on you wild thing."He hissed,his hat falling off.He pulled the rope,his hands begining to chaff.Spirit broke the stall open.He'd done it by smacking the bags of sand against it.They had all broken.

Utah kept pulling. Heidi's spirits were high when she saw that the stallion had broken free.

Spirit cheered for himself.He then reared and ran along,unlocking all the other stalls.Callie smiled."This way!"SHe said.
