"You know as well as I, that stallions leader or herd members can not always be there to protect everyone and everything they love," Temon said.
"Do you want to go back out and talk this time with him," Eight Belles asked.

"A good leader is open to all suggestions and listens to hear the older and the wiser speak," Temon said.
"I wonder how long this could go on," Bandit sighed.

"How do you know she doesn't know what she wants?!" Temon raised he's voice angrily. It wasn't like him to do that, but he was getting annoyed with this. Spirit seemed to never want he's foals to do anything that he thinks is dangerous.

"Have you seen what happens in these races?Hoof cracks, broken legs, necks.Horses die in this race!"The young stallion stared deep into his step-father's eyes.He lowered his voice and said,"I don't want to lose her."Angel stepped out of the barn again, tear tracks staining her face."Is that it?My father, the great Spirit,is afraid of me getting myself killed?Dad,I can care for myself. So this is what I think YOU should do.YOU go home,YOU wait and see. Then I will come back, and show YOU that I can do what I set out to.You constantly make me stay with mom.Sure I want my own family some day,but i don't want to have to be on such a short leash."

"May be it's best if you and your daughter talk this out," Temon suggested. "I have no say in anyone's life, but my own. But it is my duty to help those who ask for help from me."

Temon's ears stayed still just watching what had happened. Temon looked to Angel, then at Spirit as he walked off.

Temon looked to Eight Belles and Bandit. "May be we should go back to the track," Eight Belles suggested.

Eight Belles headed for the track. Walking slowly waiting for Angel to come. Temon watched after Spirit and then over at the fillies. He sighed.
