Dream continued into the woods and soon found the stream. She started to follow it.

Ramon sniffed the air tentatively."What is that?!"He asked, catching the scent of something neither horse nor deer, but a mix, equally mixed in with the scent of a deer herd.

"Smell that."Ramon said, showing her a tree where the scent was strongest.All over the trees around them were scratch marks where the stags had scratched their antlers and where all the deer had stripped bark from the trunks.On this particular tree, it seemed that only one deer, if the animal was a deer, had used it.
