The colt laughed as he sped up, now leaving his mother to bring up the rear.She didn't mind, instead she whinnied out in joy of life.

Rebel kicked out harder, trying to catch and even possibly surpass his father. His breath coming out in the long pants, as it should at his current speed.

Exited at the sight and strong scent of the apple tree, Rebel pushed into a flat out gallop. "Take it easy there son, don't over-exert yourself!"Sage called, but the colt paid his mother no mind.

Utah stopped once he came to the tree. He turned around an saw Rebel and Sage coming up.

Sage watched Rebel investigating."Honey, don't eat the ones off the ground.Those are what the deer eat.If you want a good one..."She gently smacked into the tree, causing a single apple to fall,which she caught in her mouth."Thanks Mom."Rebel said, taking it from her.

"I used to use it to knock buckets down on people's heads back at the fort when I was a filly.I just tried it on the tree one day after we got here, and it worked."Sage explained. "Who cares how she did it?"Rebel said."All I know is it works pretty good."
