Utah walked toward Sage. He's head hung low.

She stepped back as he passed her,her face looking more, yet again, like the sad mare that had seen the world through a halter the most of her life.

Utah went near the herd, but stay back a bit.

Sage was still awake and waiting for Rebel to finish his dinner,so she noticed Temon right away."Hi."She said. She jolted a bit as Rebel greedily bumped his head against her underside, trying to get more from her.

"Nice evening," Temon said. Trying to help get their minds off the problems they face.

"It is..."She replied, but her sentence died as she received another jolt."Alright enough of that or your going to bed."She warned her colt, who drew his head from under her and, muzzle stained white, smiled like an angel before diving back under her."What I meant to say it is,but it would be better if not for what had happened."She thought again for a moment before saying,"Da,"As she referred to Temon since she got here."Why does Utah act that way?I don't understand these little fits he has,so much like a small child."

"It's just he's way of dealing with tough issues. He did something like this when he found out that Deceivra was known as a widow-maker. And a few other times. It's just that. He grew up most of he's foal-hood with out he's mother. He was lost at a young age and grew up on he's own. He trusts someone...It's kind of hard to say. He's trust is strong in few and it's been broken so many times. How many time? Who knows," Temon said.

Sage nodded, sort of understanding."I see.But he seems angry at me now,why is that?"She asked, staring at her mate."I don't think I've done anything,I mean,I yelled at him for fighting without reason just now,and I played the you-explain-to-your-son card."

"Sometimes, he tries to fight those trying to help him. He's not one for someone to help guide him, but it does help him. Even if he doesn't think so," Temon said.

"I know, but there are some scars of a horse that can not be seen. The ones that are locked inside are the worse kind," Temon said.

Sage looked at her own scarred body."I always wished no one could see my scars. But if it makes you that way,"She shook her head."Maybe that's why we were meant to be together, because we're both so scarred, but in different ways."

"I guess so," Temon said. "It's good for a stallion and mare to have different weaknesses because then they can help each other using their strength to help the other's weakness."
