Esperanza fell asleep almost immediatly.It had been hard for her too.

Utah waited as Temon went off into a deep sleep. Utah quietly got up and walked toward a clearing. He had to be careful because of all the other horses all over the place. He quickly and quietly made his way out.
Seth's ears pricked forward as he heard a horse moving around.

Apep panted quietly for the night was rather warm.He then rose,it was amazing that he could move without a single leaf rustling."Now?"He whispered.

"Not yet," Seth said. "Wait 'til he's away from the herd." Seth started to wonder if he should kill the chestnut or just injury him badly. He liked to watch somethings suffer.
Utah made it out of the herd, but he was still close by. He heard another horse hooves somewhere behind him.

Apep's muscles were tensed,ready to run silently.He began to slink,to follow utah,But felt a hoof on his tail."Let go!"He hissed.

Utah got away from the herd and headed toward the valley
(This is where the two stories collide. sorry I had to put that in. lol)
Seth let go of Apep's tail. "Now!," he said.
Utah heard something, but it was to late...

The wolf was galloping across the grass,flying towards Utah.Esperanza awoke at some foreign dream,and saw her son,glancing around nervously,and a wolf flying at him.She rose with great sped and began to gallop screaming,"Run Baby!Run Utah!"But the wolf was coming quickly,just as it flew out at Temon,Esperanza ran in front of him.His sharp teeth dug inot her old body,knocking her down.He lept off her,snarling at his original prey.

Utah watched in horror the whole time and then the wolf was coming for him. He heard something behind him. It was another horse. Seth reared up and gave a shrill war cry. Utah's eyes widened in fear of this big dark bay stallion. He looked over at his mother. Temon was by her side. Utah looked back at the wolf and then at the stallion. "Seth," he said. Seth snorted and reared again. He did not say word. When he had landed, he charged at Utah, teeth bared. Utah couldn't dodge Seth. He fear the wolf's bite more than Seth's. Seth ran into Utah and bit him hard on the withers. Utah was knocked to the ground. He whinnied in pain. Seth kept his grip as they both went to the ground.

Temon looked at Esperanza. "Hang on," he said as he galloped forward. He aimed for Seth. "Seth!" he yelled as he charged at him. "This is between you and me. Leave the boy out of this."
Seth let go of Utah. He laughed as he got up and Temon did a sliding stop in front of him, bringing dust up into the night's air. "You really think I'm going to listen to you," Seth said. He watched as Utah started to get up and the wolf was ready and waiting. "I swore to make sure my enemies never had foals. Remember," Seth laughed.
"No," Temon said. He had a flash back of the day Seth had attack him years, back before he had every started trying to breed. Temon was horrified. Seth's father had tried to stop Temon's father from having foals but failed. Then when Temon was a little over a year and a half, Seth came after him. And because of that, Temon had only be able to have on foal.

"No,"Esperanza said deliriously."Please don't hurt them."She then screamed as if in great pain.She was reliving foal birth,injuries,and everything painful.She then stood,for these things gave her strength."Leave my boys alone.I don't care if you swore you'd never fight a mare,you screw with them,you screw with a woman who's just experienced all the pain in her life."She cracked her neck menacingly."Bring it on,colt!"

Seth wasn't about to back done from a challenge, let alone run from a mare. He wasn't going to kill her. He would just injury her. But how badly, he wondered. Before he came at her. He knew Utah was coming up behind him. He kicked out and nailed Utah in the neck. Utah fell to the ground. He quickly turned and kicked Temon in the chest. Temon backed off, the breathe was knocked out of him. He felt so old and useless. He had taken a hard blow, but Utah had taken a harder one. Seth went toward the mare. "Apep," he said. He knew Apep knew what to do. Not kill the horses, just hurt them real badly. Temon took deep breathes. He could only watch what was going on. He gasped for air. Seth went charging head first at Esperanza.
Utah started to get up. Feeling the blow he had taken. He started to get up again when...

Apep,came flying ahead of Seth,and got to Esperanza first.She kicked him,sending him smashing into a rock.He was knocked out.Esperanza then faced Seth.She began to charge him,too.The two collided,and Esperanza fell to the ground unhurt,but she leapt back up,rearing and screaming.The herd was begininning to awake now,but couldn't see anything throught the dark and rain.Esperanza's eyes shone in the dark,and she looked terrifying in the howling storm."Come on boy!"She jeered."Is that it?"

Seth charged at her again, but this time turned quickly and kicked at her. He kicked her in the side. Temon's chest still hurt from the kick Seth had give. Seth had nailed him right square in the front of his chest. He knew something was hurt, he just didn't know if it was broken. Utah saw that Seth was about to strike again as his mom came back from the kick Seth had kicked. Utah charged right for Seth. He wasn't about to let his mom get hurt for something that was not her problem. Utah charged as fast as he could and slammed right into Seth's side. Sending Seth sliding down the now wet and muddy hill side. He was about half way down when he stopped himself and tried to get up.

Esperanza's teeth were still bared."Do you surrender to Esperanza?The mare of the Cimarron?!Well do you!"She demanded,as she slid,in control,down towards him.She was ready to strike if her made a move.
